Although we do not offer an evening meal, we can recommend the following places for a lunch time or evening meal. We have experienced some places for ourselves, but some are on the recommendation of previous guests who have stayed at Mill Dam Guest House.
The Trimmers Arms - Freehouse, Commercial Road
Run and owned by Cath and Bill along with friendly accommodating staff, the Trimmers Arms is a pub well worth a visit. With good beers, great entertainment and a lovely menu on offer what more could anyone want, drop in and see for yourself. Literally a five minute walk from Mill Dam Guest House - their menu is on our notice board.
The Green Room - At Customs House. Customs House is based 100 yards from our front door so this really is the closest eating place. Many guests have enjoyed a fine meal here.

If you are looking for a spacious, comfortable environment to relax with a glass of wine before a performance or you want a bite to eat and a catch up cappuccino with friends our Green Room bar and bistro provides the perfect setting.
The menu changes on a weekly basis and our catering team uses only the best, locally produce ingredience available.
A new addition to the Green Room is Riverview, a private dining room which can host 22 people. Overlooking the Tyne, Riverview offers a great setting to celebrate an intimate birthday dinner, corporate lunch or private function.

Tuscano's - perfect for any pizza or pasta dishes, steaks are lovely too! Based not too far from the Town Hall in South Shields Town Centre.

Taybarns - An eatery restaurant, one of 7 in the UK, based in South Shields. This is located near Tyne Dock as you travel into South Shields towards the centre.
A selection of soups, salads, hot meats, cold meats, Indian, Chinese, Carvery, fish, pizza, pasta....the lists is endless.......... are available for one set price...all you can eat.

Aneesa - Located at Laygate, aproximately 20 minute walk from the guest house. All you can eat indian eatery. A lovely selection of Indian dishes and deserts at an affordable set price. Friendly staff and good clean environment. Establishment is not licenced, but you can take your own alcoholic drink - there is a 10% corkage charge.
